About 100 pages of The Shining novel were cut from the published draft. I think some of it can be read at the University of Maine library at Orono, where Stephen King went to college. Some of his unpublished work has been collected there, but you have to get permission to read it. I haven't read the said 100 pages yet, but I have read the short story "Before the Play," which was the prologue to the book and was cut. This was published as a short story in 1982, then again in 1997 when the miniseries came out.
